Reading time: 2 min
When content creators, influencers and marketing experts from all over the country come together, it’s because OMR is being held at the Hamburg trade fair center. This year alone, more than 70,000 visitors flocked to the halls to see over 800 speakers on seven stages, including prominent representatives such as Boris Becker, Markus Lanz and Serena Williams. We have briefly and compactly summarized the most important insights, most exciting topics and hottest discussions from two days of OMR for you.
TikTok is not what it used to be and stronger than ever before
As in previous years, the focus was on the latest developments from the social media world. First and foremost, various speakers from TikTok took to the stage. “TikTok is no longer where we started,” said Stuart Flint, Head of Global Business Solutions for Europe at TikTok, among others. Trevor Johnson, Head of Marketing TikTok for Business Europe, was among those who made it clear that this is a very positive development. In his masterclass, he presented the latest creative strategy #CreativeCodes which is primarily intended to attract more attention to TikTok. The numbers also speak for the short video platform: TikTok is the mass medium and Gen Z in particular can no longer imagine life without it. For example, the German TikTok user spends 24 hours per month on TikTok, in comparison – on Instagram it’s just 9 hours per month.
Turning your own employees into LinkedIn stars
Further exciting insights were also provided by LinkedIn expert Britta Behrens, who reported on the power of corporate influencers and the importance of the company’s own employees, who authentically communicate the company and the brand to the outside world. How important Short videos for social media are what influencer and founder Ann-Katrin Schmitz talked about: “Video killed social media, tiktokization is taking place across all channels. That’s why the feed of your own community is no longer displayed, but posts and stories that you have not subscribed to”said Schmitz in her keynote speech “The State of Influencer Marketing in 2023”.
