Sitecore Fix 9.x instance does not come back up
Today I faced the problem that my local Sitecore 9.x instance does not come back up.
No errors in the log and it ends near a line about “Device Detection”… After a lengthy investigation, I deleted the file “DeviceDetectionDB-200113120345-2D42A43B32A055B9A54DFFACE61FF39B.db” in the folder “/App_Data/DeviceDetection”. There is a nifty tool called“Lock Hunter” that allows you to delete the file while it is in use.
I terminated the w3wp process, reloaded the page and (a miracle happens) the instance is running again!
It appears that the January 2020 database file is corrupted.
