Questions & answers about the domain SSL certificate
How do I get an SSL certificate?
As the operator of a website, you receive an SSL certificate from an official certification authority (CA). There you can order the desired SSL certificate after you have confirmed your identity.
How long is an SSL certificate valid?
Each SSL certificate is issued for a specific term. Since 2020, this has been a maximum of 13 months. After expiry, it is necessary to apply for and install a new SSL certificate in order to maintain encryption on the website.
How do I install an SSL certificate?
The installation process of an SSL certificate varies depending on the server and hosting provider, but is basically carried out via the administration panel or the hosting provider in the SSL settings. Before the certificate can be ordered and installed, you need a Certificate Signing Request (CSR). You generate this and then submit it to your certificate provider. If validation is successful, you will receive the SSL certificate and install it on your server according to the provider’s instructions.
