You lack an overview of the HCM infrastructure
Companies often want switch to SAP SuccessFactors HCM, but are not sure whether this is the right way to go. When evaluating the HCM system landscape, many consulting agencies focus purely on the concept and less on the actual requirements and needs of candidates and employees. What cloud strategies are there?
There are different strategies, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. In addition to costs and security, many other factors are taken into account when planning a strategy. Possible cloud strategies are:
- The public cloud strategy: An external cloud solution is used by different companies. Customer data is stored securely and can be accessed at any time. Meanwhile, the provider takes over both the maintenance and administration of the solution – eliminating the need for maintenance and operation for the companies using it.
- The private cloud strategy: For companies, such a strategy means operating their own cloud solution. This gives them more control over the operation of the cloud infrastructure. Operating your own cloud is a sensible option, especially with regard to compliance and security requirements. In some cases, the effort can be reduced by using a managed solution.
- The multi-cloud strategy: This is a strategy with the greatest possible flexibility. Finally, the services of different providers are used and combined with each other. Another decisive factor is the ability to always have the right provider for the challenge at hand. However, additional costs are incurred for integration.
- The hybrid cloud strategy: In this strategy, the different models are combined with each other in order to utilize the respective advantages. However, the complexity of managing the various interconnected systems is also increasing.
What are cloud resources?
This combines IT resources that are made available via the Internet. They are offered as a service and can be utilized as required. Possible cloud resources are:
- Storage space: Data storage in the cloud allows data to be outsourced. This allows them to be exchanged between different departments and processed together.
- Computing power: This gives companies the ability to process large volumes of data effectively.
- Applications: Software that can be used in the cloud enables access from anywhere. In many cases, only Internet access is required, while the hardware used by the user is irrelevant.
